Hidilyn Diaz wins 1st Olympic gold for Pilipinas

The weightlifting from Zamboanga City – Hidilyn Diaz – wins the first golden medal in the Philippines Olympic history, and make new Olympic record for the 55kg category by lifting a total of 224kg.

She has left behind Chinese foe Liao Quiyun —the world record holder in the 55-kg division.

“This proves we can do it,” told Hidilyn.
